The Ordeal
Lyrics
It came fast and hard and almost uneventful
there was nothing showy or dramatic about the onset it just seemed to materialise out of thin air
I should have been wailing, I should have been screaming bloody mercy
but what echoed was a click click click into place
the tectonic plates of my being shifting moving gliding with the pain
a deep and ancient and quietly grand response to the change of air
everything wants to survive everything hangs on to dear life, remember it wants to exist, terrified that it will never recognise itself again
even the darkest demons can't pretend as it squealed out as I pried it off my throat with no regret or fear
I looked it dead in the eye and realised, despair is not forever, confusion is not forever, these are transient states and I'm at the helm of this ship
Waves will come
Waves will go
I'm done playing small
I've seen the dark side
I found fearless in the fall
I watched the sunrise (Wild Woman)
crack crack crack the fire essence of that deep within rumbled to the surface there was no time to overthink or consider, reframe or step back, it was happening after a lifetime of inaction a huge unapologetic emergence burnt the vampires alive
I didn't recognise the image but I recognised this feeling, as it singed a hole in my cover announcing the revival of the goddess
freed and wanting to touch she combined with me, giving me second third and fourth vision into the universal boundlessness, into the power I've always had
Nothing is forever, everything is moving, these are transient states and I'm at the helm of this ship
Waves will come
Waves will go
I'm done playing small
I've seen the dark side
I found fearless in the fall
I watched the sunrise (Wild Woman)
